Hello, my name is Wei (William) Ai. I’m interested in integrating social psychology, computational neuroscience, and clinical research to explore the ways in which autistic and neurotypical people navigate social interactions, manage impressions and stigma, and represent the mental worlds of others. Specifically, my current research investigates aspects of autistic camouflaging within the broader impression management framework. By building on this work, I hope to answer questions such as: which computations support how humans in general see and desire to be seen by others? What are the unique (or converging) neurocognitive mechanisms underlying social coping between autistic and neurotypical populations? Can autistic social interaction difficulties be context-dependent and transactional?
